Luis Canales has been competing in triathlon since 1996 and has been the Head Coach for the Greater Los Angeles East Side Triathlon team for Team In Training for that last three years. He is certified by USA Triathlon, has been certified by multiple Ironman champion Dave Scott and by ACME Coaching as a triathlon coach and also a NASM certified fitness instructor for the last 4 years.
Luis has raced for the USA Triathlon National team in Ibiza, Spain against the worlds best in the sport and has also won a championship title at Xterra World Campionships in Maui, Hawaii. He has also had a sub 5 hour finish at Wildflower Long course and has completed 3 Ironmans.
Luis sais that one of his favorite experiences was crossing the finish line with visualy impaired athlete Lindsey Jessup at Ironman Coeur d' Alene 2005.
Luis works as a Triathlon Coach in Los Angeles. Additionally, he founded and puts on athletic events himself with his friends and co-founders at Generic Events.
