Ivonne Mosquera

Ivonne, a native of Colombia, was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, cancer of the retina, at the age of two. After her diagnosis, both eyes had to be removed to keep the cancer from spreading to her brain, but that didn't stop her. After becoming a U.S. citizen in 1991, Mosquera went on to graduate from Stanford University in 1999 with a degree in mathematics. She is now in the honors MBA program at Baruch's Zicklin School of Business in New York City.

Ivonne picked up running in 2001. With the support of many guides and volunteers, she has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, completed six Marathons (running her personal best of 3:26 in the 2007 Boston Marathon), and is beginning to compete in Triathlons. Her hobbies also include cross-country skiing, rock climbing, and singing. She is also a chocoholic!

Ivonne says, "Through cycling and running I can really experience the outdoors in my own ways, through my own senses, which driving in a car does not allow me to do. These activities, and many others, wouldn't be possible for me if I didn't have an organization like C.Different to rely on for training support, volunteers, and guides.
