Sharlene Wills lives a life much more active than most her age. Born blind at birth Sharlene persevered through times when the blind were not accepted. She has become a successful part of the business world and works as a legal transcribe at the LA District Attorney office.
Outside of her job, Charlene is an avid runner and veteran in ultra distance events, competing since 1988. She has participated in nearly 50 marathons, a 50-mile ultra marathon and a 24-hour track race. In 2006, she took on a new challenge and competed in her first triathlon and despite her less than love for the water completed a second a year later. Sharlene loves the feeling of accomplishment she gets from endurance events but she also has many other hobbies. She likes to read, hike, watch other sports such as football, baseball and tennis, and listens to several genres of music.
Sharlene has participated in two C Different events. In 2005 she took part in the Inaugural C5K in Los Angeles and earlier this year she hiked in the Santa Monica Mountains with 23 other visually impaired individuals in the Take a Hike with C Different program. “I think the C Different Foundation is a great organization and I hope that I can participate in many future events with the organization,” Sharlene states.
